How to measure yourself

  1. Chest

Wrap the tape around the widest part of your chest, under your arms, tape level. Do not puff up.

  2. Waist

Around your natural waist, where your trousers actually sit, one finger inside the tape.

  3. Shoulder

Across your back, from the edge of one shoulder bone to the other. Ask someone to help.

  4. Collar

Around the base of your neck where the collar sits, one finger inside the tape.

How it should fit

The shoulder decides everything

The jacket's shoulder seam ends where your shoulder ends. If the shoulder is wrong, nothing else matters and no tailor can fully save it.

The collar stays on your neck

A shirt or jacket collar rests against your neck without gaps. A gap at the back means the size or the cut is wrong.

One fist of room

Button the jacket. You should fit a flat hand between the button and your chest, no more, no less.

The break is a choice

Trousers touching the shoe with one soft fold is classic. No break is sharper. Your store hems either way while you wait.
